Using a Carrier with the Drum Sander

I often use a carrier made of the scrap wood I’ve cut away from the puzzle. To do this, I save the scrap pieces, fit them back around the puzzle, rubber band them together, and run them through the drum sander with everything else. I refer to the scrap pieces, which I assemble together with the actual puzzle pieces, as the “carriers.” The carriers help to avoid crunching the puzzle.

Leave a solid piece of scrap around the outside of the entire Sloth puzzle to serve as a carrier. Use the scrap from the item as a carrier to support any piece that might break in the drum sander—legs, tails, or any bit that sticks out.
